+ my story

I was born and raised in Santa Fe and grew to know real estate through my father’s eyes and actions in a community where he had been in business for decades. Two of the early books I acquired as a young kid were about home market valuations and a guide to purchasing a first home. My job experience with the Neil Lyon Group started early when, as a youngster, I accompanied my dad to listings before showings and swept floors. There was also a brief time when I washed brokers’ cars in their company parking lot.

Except for a brief stint at Vermont’s Mountain School of Milton Academy, I spent my pre-university days in Santa Fe. My acceptance to Dartmouth then took me across the country to Hanover, New Hampshire. My studies led to a love of geology: an interdisciplinary science that uses physics, chemistry, biology, and creativity to solve complex problems about the world around us. The geology program afforded me the opportunity to visit spectacular wonders of the western United States and Canada. I graduated in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in Geology and Earth Sciences and immediately moved to Boston to work for a leading environmental consulting company: Roux Associates.

At Roux I worked my way through the ranks. I started as a field geologist spending 12-hour days examining soil in 90-degree heat or overseeing the excavation of thousands of tons of contaminated soil during the bitter months of a New England winter. I advanced to the position of project manager for multiple million-dollar projects for real estate development, industrial, and petroleum clients. I managed the rapid due diligence and remediation for a multi-parcel Brownfield development project where we helped our client convert dozens of acres of severely contaminated property into mixed commercial use developments minutes from downtown Boston. I didn’t sleep much during those six months, but I’m proud of the value my team provided for our client by navigating the complex regulatory environment through the entirety of the project’s life cycle.

While I loved my time and work in Boston, I could not deny the pull of my hometown. I’m an avid outdoorsman seeking every opportunity to mountain bike, hike, whitewater kayak and ski. In my heart, Santa Fe represents everything that a home should be – an outdoor sports mecca with a culture that is rich in community and history – and this love brought me home and to the Neil Lyon Group. While the jump from geology to real estate may not seem obvious at first glance, my pursuit of first-class client service and creative problem solving knows no bounds. These skills translate as easily into helping someone find the home of their dreams as it does to mediating an oil spill. Needless to say, I am proud to carry on the Lyon tradition as a third-generation real estate broker.

When I’m not working or recreating outside, my time is spent in the service of my high school- sweetheart Ellyn and our ever- growing family of cats and dogs.
